2010 Scholarship Recipients
 


Korina Urias


Claudia Montoya

Congratulations to our 2010 Barbara Trenchard Foundation scholarship recipients.
Korina Urias earned top grades at Kermit High School while participating in volleyball, basketball and softball.  She was president of her sophomore, junior and senior classes as well as a National Honor Society member all three years.  She is the daughter of Bertha Urias and the late Manuel Urias.  She plans to attend UTPB. 

Claudia Montoya is fifth in her class o f 191 at Andrews High School.  She was All-District and Academic All State in volleyball. She was an officer for her senior class, National Honor Society, Student Council and choir. Claudia has also worked as a cashier, waitress and cook while in high school. She is the daughter of Carlos and Gracelia Montoya and has been accepted at both UTSA and UTPB. She is not sure yet which college she will attend.

Jasmine Clayton

Stacia Garrett, a Wink High School graduate is currently attending McMurry University in Abilene. Todd Thompson, a Kermit High School graduate, is attending the University of North Texas.  Jasmine Clayton, a Wink High School graduate, is attending the University of Texas at Austin. All three were awarded a $10,000 scholarship in 2009.
 

2008 Scholarship Recipients


Erin Whitmire


Raul Aranda

Raul Aranda, a Hobbs High School graduate, and Erin Whitemire, a Wink High School graduate, received scholarships awarded by The Barbara Trenchard Foundation in 2008. Raul is now attending the University of New Mexico and Erin is attending the Stephen F. Austin State University.


2007 Scholarship Recipients


Kendra Kerley


Dalia Carina Mendoza

Kendra Kerley, a Wink High School graduate, and Dalia Mendoza, a Kermit High School graduate, received scholarships awarded by The Barbara Trenchard Foundation in 2007. Kendra is now attending Baylor University and Dalia is attending Texas Woman's College.

UPDATE:  Kendra Kerley will be graduating early and should receive her degree in December of this year.



 
2006 Scholarship Recipients


Matlin Watkins


Victor Pallares

Matlin Watkins, an Andrews High School graduate, and Victor Pallares, a Kermit High School graduate, received scholarships awarded by The Barbara Trenchard Foundation in 2006. 

UPDATE:  Victor Pallares graduated from UTPB on May 8th of this year.  He plans to pursue a career in teaching and would like to teach in his hometown of Kermit.

UPDATE:  Mattie Watkins was accepted into TTUHSC School of Nursing in 2008 and plans to pursue a career in nursing.

 
2005 Scholarship Recipients
 


Gary Henson & Yvette Granillo

Gary Henson and Yvette Granillo, both Kermit High School graduates, received the first two scholarships awarded by The Barbara Trenchard Foundation in 2005.  

UPDATE: Yvette Granillo is now a 2009 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin, and is the first scholarship recipient to graduate! 

UPDATE:  Gary Henson has graduated from Angelo State University and is currently working on his Masters.

   
 

The Barbara Trenchard Foundation will be awarding at least two $10,000.00 scholarships each year.  Graduating seniors from the Permian Basin are eligible to apply.  The selection committee thanks all of the outstanding applicants this year.  Donations to the scholarship fund may be made to The Barbara Trenchard Scholarship Foundation, P. O. Box 799, Kermit, Texas  79745. All donations to the Barbara Trenchard Foundation are Tax Deductable.
